Krystol and Brandon, Wedding at La Jardin

I am horrible with keeping the blog up to date. That should have been my New Years Resolution.

Here is Krystol and Brandon’s wedding from last November. They had it at the beautiful La Jardin in the Spring area. This was our first time shooting here and from a brides stand point, it’s a wonderful venue. From a dual photographer stand point it can be a little troubling. It’s very easy to be in each others shot if you’re not careful since the bride and groom are at the center of the room. But I like that! Very easy to get the unique angles you don’t see in traditional chapels.

Brandon and Krystol – Engagement

This last weekend we had a great engagement shoot. The first one where the engaged couple brought along their “kids”. As dog lovers, when asked if they could bring their dogs along on the shoot, we couldn’t say no. So we met up early in the morning to shoot a fun, creative couple and two well behaved dogs!

Congrats to Katie and Marshall on their recent engagement! We met up at the Kemah Boardwalk this weekend EARLY in the morning to get some great shots of a great couple and it was well worth it. Most couples take a while to warm up to the camera….Marshall and Katie took about 10 frames. Image that, a couple that really likes each other Congrats guys!

Terrance and Keisha

Becky and I have known Terrance for several years. We were so excited to hear that he was getting married to love of his life, Keisha. But, what made it even better, is that he wanted us to photograph their wedding. They are such a fun couple and truly are meant for each other.

Now, let’s fast forward to the wedding day. My job is to shoot the groom getting ready and Becky’s job is to shoot the bride. I meet Terrance and the boys at his Hotel room and I felt I was walking into a scene from The Hangover. Five guys in a hotel room with one baby. I just assumed the bachelor party went well.

The biggest surprise of the evening was the Texans Bull Pin Pep Band showing up unannounced! Here’s a tip for future brides (and grooms), if you have a secret about the night, like a huge friggin’ marching band showing up, give your photographer a heads up . It makes it easier for us to try to anticipate what might happen. LOL. With that said, this by far was one of the coolest things we’ve seen at a wedding. The energy these guys provide was unreal! Even though the band leader taught at my rival high school.

It was a great night even though they convinced Becky to put the camera down and join in the celebration leaving me to work while everyone else has fun.

Amber and Byron

Wow! By far the most stressful wedding we’ve shot so far! But apparently all the stress was on us photographers, since the bride and groom showed no worries at all on their faces. But that’s what makes it fun. As prepared as we were for all circumstances, things changed rapidly. So rapidly, I found myself riding with the brides aunts to the ceremony instead of my own car! LOL. You have to do what you have to do to make sure everything is covered. And I thank them two for their ride and hospitality.

The ceremony was just like what Becky and I wished for when we got married. Short, to the point, but still very meaningful. The reception? Well that was a party! It was one of the very few weddings where I swear nearly every guest stayed until after the couple left. It was a great send off for the happy couple!

Derek and Michelle

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Williams! This wedding was two “firsts” for me. One, this was the first time I didn’t meet the bride until the day before the wedding. And two, it was our first time shooting at Cypress Chateau. We were communicating through email and phone before hand, but we never met in person. We actually made a special trip up to the venue the day before during their rehearsal, just so we could get a look at the venue and meet with Michelle and Derek.

All in all the wedding went great!! It was an outdoor wedding in July and the weatherman forecasted a high of 99. He was right. But just as the wedding started, a nice group of clouds came and helped shade and cool the happy couple.

Congrats Derek and Michelle, we wish you a long and fruitful life together!

Amber’s Bridal

The worst part of shooting a Bridal is having to wait until the wedding day to share the pictures with everyone! Last night Amber and Byron got married in a gorgeous venue and now it’s time to show off her pictures from our Bridal session! The location is the same as where they got married, The Bell Tower on 34th. There isn’t a corner of this place that isn’t cool to take a picture in. In my mind I’m like “Ooh, I want to shoot here, ooh that’s cool, oh look at that”, but we only had 2 hours and didn’t want to tire her out by dragging her around the entire complex.

So, Congrats Byron, you’ve got a beautiful bride.

Free wedding shoot with tattoo?

After editing the pictures from my last wedding and updating them to my blog, I came across one that gave me a brilliant idea. I try to add my watermark to pictures in a non intrusive way, that allows the picture to be seen without my logo distracting from the picture. But when I put it on the picture below, it was too good to change, and it brought me to where I am today…

I want to offer a free wedding shoot for the first bride that get’s a tattoo of my logo.

Do I think anyone will take me up on that? Probably not, but how awesome would it be if someone did?

In case I find a bride that loves us enough to permanently put our brand on her, I guess I need to lay down some ground rules. It must be permanent (no press on fakies), it must be verifiable (don’t put it in a place you don’t want us taking pictures of), and it would be a good idea to contact me beforehand to make sure I’m available for your day. The free wedding session includes up to 8 hours of two photographers with a high res CD of all edited pictures.

So let’s see who the bravest bride is.
